Hi Brad,

Firstly, great article. Really hit the nail on the head. I'm a little confused about my training and would like to know if you could clear up a few things for me and maybe other viewers might have the same questions.
I've started gym again (about 2 months ago) after 1 year break and weighed 71kg. Now 10 weeks into it and I weight around 79kgs. I have been doing some heavy weight training and obviously eat plenty of carbs and protein on a daily basis. I can see the results which is good. However, I would like to lose some belly, buttock and thigh fat. How would I go about this weight loss while trying to bulk up on upper body?

I trained each body part twice per week - chest/tri, back/bi, shoulders/legs; and I used to mix it up occasionally. Now once a week I do some boxing training - punching the bag, skipping and crunches for 40 mins.

Now If I want to lose those fats while trying to bulk up should I:

1. Do heavy cardio? (I did go down from 88 to 71 in about 2 months just by running and STRICT protein diet.
2. Cut back on carbs? Will this affect mass growth?

Btw, I'm a 23 year old male, if that matters :-)

Thanks in advance!

Keep up the great work.

Hi,

I've put your blog about Jessica Alba's diet and exercise plan on my fridge as inspiration. I have just had my second child and by following the diet and exercise I am now only 4 pounds from my pre-baby weight of 125lbs (I'm 5'7). I still have a lot of body fat on my stomach though after pregnancy. What do I need to do? Should I lose more weight than normal then rebuild back with muscle on a protein diet? And can your body ever catch up with saggy skin that is left after weight loss? It's only been 6 months since my baby but even 12 months after my first baby my tummy was all skin and fat.....:(

[...] Next, 3 sets of 15 reps is pretty damn generic. Now, I’m not saying this can’t be effective…I’m just saying I like to mix it up and use heavier weights that are lifted based on time (not reps) whenever possible. To achieve maximum fat burning, I suggest you shoot for 45 seconds under tension for each set. You can read more about lifting for time, as opposed to lifting for reps, by checking out his post: 7 Ways to Torch Fat Faster.
Omg Brad... you totally rock! Very informative information AND humor? I feel I've cheated you in some way.. ;P I absolutely LOVE plyametric drills... and my mother thinks i AM on crack when she walks in during a workout...

But hardcore crackies don't need to workout cause their usually reduced to nothing anyway. I tell her this to assure her I am most certainly NOT on crack.

Tho sometimes I am quite the speedy talker.

But that's due to ADD I'm told.

But I think it's just cuz I'm awesome & I'll explode if I dont get all these words outta my head ya know?

ADD, PCP... same difference. One's just a natural high.

There see? I did it again. I'll shuttup now.

PeACE OuT!
;P
