Best Whey Protein Powder For a Lean Body

Lean Body Supplements – Selecting the Best Whey Protein Powder…by Brad Campbell

What’s up fat haters?  I’ve had a lot of questions lately about how to select the best whey protein powder to use with a lean body diet for fast results.  I used to avoid recommending any specific products, because there are so many things to take into consideration when looking for a good whey protein supplement.  But that hasn’t gotten me off the hook, as I keep getting flooded with emails asking which SPECIFIC protein powder I use.

I want to use this as an opportunity to teach you about supplement companies, so I encourage you to read this entire post.  But, if you just want my recommendation and could care less why I chose this particular whey protein powder, here it is —> Prograde Protein (I’m a proud Prograde partner).

Whey Protein Powder For a Lean Body

However, I think you can learn some shocking truths about supplements and how they’re made if you continue reading…believe me when I say I’m all over this topic like Playboy bunnies on Heff (wink)…

As you probably already know, the supplement industry is filled with phonies who don’t care about anything but getting rich off your hopes and dreams.  They use shady manufacturing processes and I wouldn’t feel comfortable letting my yellow labs, Brownie and Josie (well, my parents’ yellow labs back in Iowa, that is) eat anything that comes out of these filthy factories.

They also use cheap ingredients and often report different amounts of the active ingredient(s) on the nutrition labels.  The problem is that dietary supplements like whey protein powder are not regulated by the FDA, leaving supplement companies free to rip people off and sell you lies with hyped-up marketing that plays on your emotions and desires.

In fact, I just took this straight from the most trusted source–FDA’s Overview of Dietary Supplements:

***************************************************************************************************************

FDA regulates dietary supplements under a different set of regulations than those covering “conventional” foods and drug products (prescription and Over-the-Counter).  Under the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA), the dietary supplement manufacturer is responsible for ensuring that a dietary supplement is safe before it is marketed.

FDA is responsible for taking action against any unsafe dietary supplement product after it reaches the market.  Generally, manufacturers do not need to register their products with FDA nor get FDA approval before producing or selling dietary supplements. Manufacturers must make sure that product label information is truthful and not misleading.  The Federal Trade Commission regulates dietary supplement advertising.

***************************************************************************************************************

In case you didn’t catch that, anyone off the street can package up a powder, put it in a tub and sell it as whey protein powder.  Only AFTER it’s being sold in the market and people make complaints, would the FDA even think of looking into a particular supplement.  And it’s the manufacturer’s job to ensure the label is accurate and the whey protein powder (or any other supplement for that matter) is safe to use.

Do you really think these money-hungry individuals are going to devote the time, effort and money to spend years testing out a product to make sure it’s pure and safe? Me either.

Would you let a complete stranger cook your meals in their dirty-ass house…especially if you knew that stranger stands to make a lot of money from this?  I bet not.  If you’re like me, you’d be scared that those meals might be contaminated from the unsanitary conditions, or that they may falsely report the exact foods (or amounts of foods) that are supposedly in each meal.  You feel my flow on this?

Selecting the Best Whey Protein Powder…

Most people make the mistake of gambling on low-quality powders sold in grocery stores, or they’ll head to a local supplement shop and get attacked by some know-it-all salesperson who you’d think could be a brain surgeon the way they throw around those big medical terms that they’ve been coached to say by their boss.

I used to love going into these places and acting dumb, asking for their recommendations on a whey protein powder, knowing damn well that I knew 1,000% more about these supplements than they ever would.  You see, I purposely failed to mention that I was a Doctor of Pharmacy and had spent the last 6 years of professional schooling studying this stuff inside and out.

I’d let them recommend a specific brand of protein powder (which you know is based off one thing only – their COMMISSION) and then I’d select a different one just to piss them off.  What I used to buy from these supplement shops was Isopure whey protein powder.

It’s not that I knew a lot about this particular brand, but after wasting thousands of dollars over the years on other low-quality brands that tasted like ass and didn’t dissolve worth a crap (not a problem if you’re into swallowing lumpy milk, haha)…I finally gave them a shot and was pretty impressed.

They have some great-tasting flavors that mix well in water, plus contain almost no carbs or fat, so that’s a pretty good choice if you’re buying from a supplement joint, like GNC or Hi-Health.  But I still didn’t feel all that comfortable suggesting this brand to all my clients because I didn’t know squat about their manufacturing processes.

Then, about a year ago, I kind of lucked out and discovered one of my mentors (Ryan Lee) had teamed up with another fitness pro and created their own supplement company, called Prograde Nutrition.  Their goal was to offer a solution to these problems of unregulated, money-hungry scammers (so-called supplement companies) that were pushing their low-quality products to be sold by unknowledgeable used car salesman (oops, I meant GNC employees).

They fixed these problems by establishing unmatched research, development, testing and manufacturing processes that make Prograde Nutrition different than any other supplement company out there.

On top of that, they refuse to sell their whey protein powder (and other supplements) in stores.  Instead, they only allow qualified fitness professionals – who know what the hell they’re talking about – to recommend their products.

Because of everything I’ve just talked about…and because I’ve seen the excellent manufacturing conditions where their whey proteins and other supplements are made (and you can too, via a behind-the-scenes video I’ll show you in a second)…I really only feel comfortable recommending you buy your supplements from Prograde Nutrition.

*This is why I’ve become a proud Prograde partner (yes, I do receive a small commission for anyone that buys their products off my site…but remember, I could promote ANY supplements and get paid…I just choose to recommend a company I believe in).

Having said all of that, here’s the best whey protein powder to buy, assuming you want to sculpt a lean body through a proper diet and the use of high-quality supplements that are guaranteed to be pure, safe and effective:

—> Prograde Pharmaceutical Quality Whey Protein (get yours here —> Prograde Protein)

- Prograde Whey Protein Nutritional LabelNaturally sweetened with Stevia (no artificial sweeteners)

- Vanilla flavor mixes easily and doesn’t cause bloating/upset stomach

- 2 gms of carbs per serving —> ideal for lean body

- Low temperature micofiltered and ion-exchanged whey protein isolates for unparalleled purity

- Check out the nutritional label to the right  for the exact breakdown

- I can’t find any other whey protein that compares —> notice how FEW ingredients are listed —> check out other protein powders and look at all the chemicals they contain, which turns your body into a toxic dump —> this makes it hard to lose fat and build muscle

The only real downside is that it always costs a lil more to get the best.  But I buy in bulk and do the free shipping option, which saves me quite a bit of money…in the end it costs me about the same as what I was spending in the supplement stores, only now I don’t even have to leave the house and you can have them auto-send your orders so that you never run out, which is pretty cool.

So there you have it…you asked repeatedly and I finally broke down and gave you my specific recommendation for a whey protein powder.  I also get my multivitamins, fish oil and post-workout drink from Prograde as well.  If you want all of these, make sure you get The Platinum Package to save money.

Just remember, supplements aren’t the ‘magic bullet.’  They really only help you when  you already have your diet and workouts in order.  Don’t think that dropping a couple hundred bucks on whey protein and other supplements will turn you into a ripped Brad Pitt of Fight Club, without doing anything else different.  You’ll still need to put in hard work – both during  your workouts and in the kitchen.

The main reason for using a whey protein supplement is because it makes it easier for you to provide your starving muscles with high-quality protein around the clock.

Plus, a liquid form of protein before, during and after your workout, is best for quick absorption…this leads to quicker gains in lean muscle and more fat burning potential, which is why whey protein is the most important supplement you can take.

Other times of the day, though, you’re better off consuming whole, natural, lean protein sources, like eggs, chicken, turkey, fish and raw nuts.

Okay, now here’s that behind-the-scenes video I promised you.  Seriously, this is REALLY cool.  You get to see how they do micro-biological testing on the ingredients before they’re even used.  And if they don’t pass their strict tests, then they do NOT make it into the bottle.
