Well, you can do either...or BOTH haha. Depends on how fast you want to lose weight and how much time you have. I typically like to do some cardio right after strength training and then also on non-strength training days. But for maintenance or lean muscle building, I might only do 1 cardio session per week and 3 or 4 strength workouts. Sorry to be vague, but it all depends...

Thanks Brad! Just one more question. Should I do the cardio on the same day as the workout or on another day?

Hey Grace, here's a great workout to look like Fergie: Megan Fox workout (I created to give the lean, toned look). For cardio, I'd recommend starting with 15 minutes at first and increasing intensity of the interval first and the duration second. You can go up to a maximum duration of however long you'd like, which will depend primarily on your current fitness level. But in general, I like to see clients going shorter and harder, rather than longer and slower. Hope this helps.

Hi Brad- What body weight exercises do you recommend to get a body like Fergie? Also, how long should the cardio be if I do intervals?

Hi Hailey - congrats on the process so far. It sounds like you're doing very well, given your height and weight. Funny b/c my g/f forced me to do a P90X with her the other day and I thought the same thing - the girls on there did NOT have it going on (at least not in my eyes).

The entire key to maintaining that feminine, curvy look is just to keep enough body fat and balance that with the right amount of lean muscle (which looks really good, as long as it's not showing through like a dude).

It really is a tough thing to achieve because it's hard for girls to be both curvy and toned. Depending on your body type, you'd prob want to be in the low to mid 20's in terms of body fat percentage.

Achieving this, combined with exercising regularly and really working the trouble spots like back of the arms, thighs and stomach...you'll look fit and tone, but not ripped like a guy or worse yet - looking like a skeleton.

I'd suggest taking pics of yourself once a month and then comparing them. Just really look close and decide if you could stand to lose a lil more fat in certain areas and also pay attention to what parts could use a lil firming up.

I know this info is all kinda vague, but the truth is that everyone's body type is different (at least slightly) and the best bet is to shoot for these general guidelines and then continually reassess and tweak your program if/when needed.

You can keep me updated and if you need help with anything, just holla...

Thanks for reading.

Hey Brad -

I love your site you've really got me inspired and feeling that I can do this and get a body just as kickin' as a celebrity.

I am pretty dedicated right now. I am following a low cal diet using your cheat/fast days (which I am in love with.) Just starting off my second week of that. (I had just been counting calories without the intentional cheat or fast for about a month before that).

I am losing, yay! And at 134, at 5'9 already, I don't think it will take too long to get down to a good lean-ness.

I am also doing a workout 3 times a week that is super similar to your megan fox body workout.

I feel great, like I am on track, and eventually will get where I want to be.

Then I walk by the tv and see the infomercial for the P90x running. OMG! I do NOT want to look like the girls on there. More power to them if that is how they want to look. But I am not exercising the self control to eat right and workout to look like that! I will cry if that is what happens.

So I need your advice, assurance. What do I need to do to assure that I won't get either manly or skelatonly? How do I keep the curves? I want to be like Fergie and Alba!
