Lean Body Protein Shake – Bedtime Beast

I ate my face off yesterday, so it’s time to get back to business today.  I found this lean body smoothie recipe that would be good to have any time of day, but especially as a bedtime snack, thanks to the casein protein found in cottage cheese.  Yep, the recipe calls for cottage cheese…interesting, huh?  I haven’t tried this one yet, but will take the plunge soon to see if this bad boy is any good.

Lean Body Protein Shake

Like I was saying though, cottage cheese is a pretty dope protein source because of the high content of casein protein.  Unlike whey protein, casein actually forms a gel-like clot inside your stomach.  This property allows it to provide a slower and more steady supply of amino acids into your blood stream, which is ideal when you won’t be able to consume protein for an extended period of time (ie when you’re sleeping like a baby).

This lean body protein shake is the perfect ending to a day that consisted of clean eating and a rigorous weight training workout.  A solid 7-8 hours of sweet lean body dreams and a steady influx of muscle sculpting protein will help turn you into a sculpted beast, like Brad Pitt in Fight Club (or a toned and curvy “fergalicious” Fergie, for all the ladies).

Lean Body Protein Shake – Bedtime Beast:Fergie Curvy Body

—> 8 oz. skim milk

—> 1.5 cups fat free cottage cheese

—> 2 scoops whey protein powder (vanilla)

—> 1/2 cup fat free vanilla yogurt

—> Splenda to taste (try starting with 1 packet)

—> 1 handful of ice cubes

—> Blend it up and drink right before bedtime

Guys and girls need to always be catering to your body’s needs when it comes to building lean muscle.  Without doing this, you’ll never achieve the toned look you’re going for.  So make sure you’re hooking it up while you sleep at night, by consuming a slower digesting protein source (like cottage cheese) right before hitting the hay.

If you try this before I do, let me know how it tastes – I’m guessing you won’t even notice the cottage cheese (at least, I hope…’cuz that could be kinda nasty).
