Best Old School Workout Music – Hook Me Up…

A Blog Post About Workout Music… by Brad “beats” Campbell

I was kicking it old school earlier and jamming to some of my favorite workout songs from back in the dizzay.  What sucks is that my computer crashed a couple years ago and I lost a small fortune in songs that I’d actually paid for.  I’m sure I’ve whined about that before.  It was my fault for not backing stuff up I guess.  Moving on…

I haven’t done a workout music post in a while, so let’s get funky.  Wait, real quick…speaking of words that rhyme with funky, have any of you guys tried Ben & Jerry’s Chunky Monkey ice cream?  Are you ready for this?

It’s banana flavored ice cream with chocolate chunks and walnuts (or some kinda nut) in it.  At the risk of sounding like a 13 year old girl, O-M-G that stuff is off the charts good.  It’s a cheat day staple of mine.  Try it if you haven’t…you’ll be making monkey noises by the third bite.

Anyways, so last time we kept it real general with a list of good workout songs.  Today, let’s “niche down” (as we like to say in the online business world), and get a list of the best old school workout music…

Here are some of my favorites:

—> 2Pac – Ambitions as a Rider

—> 2Pac – Hit ‘Em Up

—> Notorious BIG – Juicy

—> Michael Jackson – Billie Jean (especially remixes)

—> Vanilla ICE – Ice, Ice Baby (yep, I said it)

—> Bob Dylan – The Hurricane

—> Creedence Clearwater Revival – Down on the Corner

—> Tone Loc – Funky Cold Medina

—> Young MC – Bust a Move

—> Digital Underground – Humpty Dance

—> Naughty By Nature – O.P.P

—> Next – Too Close

—> Lil Troy – Balla

—> Puff – I’ll Be Missing You

—> Wreckx N Effect – Rump Shaker

—> Pras – Ghetto Superstar

—> Blackstreet – No Diggity

—> Salt N Pepa – Push It

—> Dr. Dre – Nuthin’ but a “G” Thang

Okay, and now for the most embarrassing old school workout song I was listening to earlier…are you sitting down?  Check it…

Tell me you weren’t SNL head bobbing to that… (if you have no clue what I just said, Google it)

If you said NO, I don’t believe you.

What can you add to this list?  Nothing is off limits (clearly).  Hook me up with your top old school jams in the comments section.  Can’t wait…

Your Coach,

Brad Campbell
