<p style="text-align: left;">After my recent three weeks of total laziness, she convinced me that I should start back to my workouts by reconditioning my body with a week of P90X.  I think she just wanted a workout partner and god forbid she actually use the plan I specifically made for her.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><span id="more-2773"></span></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Anyways, I decided for a change of pace, I&#8217;d do the P90X workouts every night with her, for one week &#8211; this way I could let my readers know my honest thoughts.  I&#8217;ve always been anti-P90X because it&#8217;s like rooting for the competition.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Plus, I take it kind of personal when my friends, family and blog readers want my opinion on this or any other program&#8230;simply because MY workouts and diet plans are pretty much the best EVER and nobody should need an alternative, right?  <img src='http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p style="text-align: left;">So this past week I finally left my ego behind and tried out a workout program that <em>wasn&#8217;t</em> straight from my own noggin.  So how&#8217;d it go?</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">I have to admit, it was a lot tougher than I thought it&#8217;d be.  It probably didn&#8217;t help that I just took three entire weeks off and ate like it was my job&#8230;but nonetheless, I wouldn&#8217;t accuse the workouts of being easy.  P90X uses many of the principles I incorporate into my training programs, with the main exception being the use of a split routine.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">I tend to favor total body workouts and feel as though you can get a greater metabolic boost, as compared to split routines.  Despite this fact, I was still feeling the burn pretty good with these workouts &#8211; especially on plyometric day (that workout was very <em>TopFatLossTrainer</em>-like).</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Another difference the P90X system has when compared to my training approach is a much longer workout duration.  Most workouts last 60 minutes, whereas ya&#8217;ll know I favor the shorter, more punishing sessions.  The upside to this is that your body isn&#8217;t quite as taxed the next day.  I&#8217;ve got a &#8220;good hurt&#8221; going on all over my body right now, meaning I&#8217;m a little sore everywhere&#8230;but not too sore anywhere (like I sometimes get with my own crazy routines).</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">It&#8217;s also a big bonus whenever a given workout program allows you to follow along from home, which is why I made the <a  href="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/inner-circle" target="_blank">Inner Circle</a> the way I did.  P90X does the same thing and utilizes the same basic fitness equipment I use within the Inner Circle workouts.  Here&#8217;s a post I did that shows exactly what equipment you&#8217;d need for P90X, the Inner Circle or any other comprehensive at-home program &#8212;&gt;&gt; <a  href="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/2010/01/06/inner-circle-getting-started-checklist-step-1/">Home Fitness Equipment</a>.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">This is also designed to help get you lean and ripped, which scores points in my book.  Obviously, that&#8217;s the same kind of look I preach about on this site.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">Personally, I thought the main guy (Tony Horton, I think) gets a little annoying to listen to.  He&#8217;s kind of a goofball like me and says some pretty off the wall stuff in a really over-positive way, which tends to piss me off when I&#8217;m in the middle of a painful workout.  But he IS in awesome shape, as you can see from the picture.  Props, Tony&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><em>So is P90X worth buying?</em> It depends&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">I&#8217;d say it&#8217;s a very solid workout program (I never looked into the diet plans&#8230;sorry) and you&#8217;d definitely get results by using it.  But then again, you&#8217;d get results from <em>any</em> workout program as long as you followed it alongside a proper diet.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">My number one recommendation would be to join my Inner Circle or <a  href="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/2010/05/01/guaranteed-fat-loss-anyone/">Platinum Personal Training for guaranteed fat loss</a>, but I may be a little biased to this specific lean body program for some strange reason (can you guess what that reason would be?).  If that doesn&#8217;t float your boat, P90X would definitely be a suitable alternative that you can use to <strong>get ripped at home</strong>.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">Of course, I assumed it was going to be yet another half-ass fitness program put together by some uneducated meathead who claims the product will transform you into a lean and ripped hunk/hottie without having to invest any effort whatsoever.  In other words, I thought TACFIT Commando would be a typical ebook that lacked in quality and over-delivered in hype and ridiculous claims.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">However, the beeping noise on my internal BS radar began to slow the deeper I got into the sales copy.  As I continued to read, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the principles this bodyweight training program was based around mirrored almost exactly the same philosophies I preach to you guys every day here on <em>TopFatLossTrainer</em>.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">When I got to the end of the sales page, I thought:  &#8220;I should contact the author and see if he&#8217;ll let me test drive this program to see if it&#8217;s as good as it sounds.&#8221;  So I hit him up on Facebook and within 15 minutes he had given me an all access pass inside the TACFIT Commando program.  Now, I don&#8217;t tell you that so that you&#8217;ll go and do the same thing.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">This program costs money and the fact that I run a blog that gets thousands of visitors from over 100 countries each day is what allowed me to get the free insider&#8217;s look (because if I <em>did</em> like the program and gave it a positive shout out, this would be great for team TACFIT Commando).</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">This special ops theme is consistent throughout.  Oh, and I should mention that it&#8217;s not just some make-believe, fancy schmancy theme that was cleverly thought up&#8230;the author is an accomplished fighter who trains the aforementioned warriors to handle any scenario they may face in their respective profession (we&#8217;re talking about the heroes putting their life on the line for our freedom).</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">If <em>you&#8217;re</em> the guy in charge of training <em>these</em> soldiers, you&#8217;ve got my attention.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">BUT, would his TACFIT Commando program be appropriate for someone like myself who&#8217;s got no military background and who&#8217;s biggest career danger is having his computer crash without backing up his most recent blog post?  I was determined to find out&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Sunday night I read the entire TACFIT Commando training manual so that I&#8217;d know exactly what the program entails.  Monday and Tuesday I spent much of the day watching all the videos, trying out several workouts and &#8216;playing&#8217; with the bonuses.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Overall, I definitely give TACFIT Commando my <em>TopFatLossTrainer</em> stamp of approval</strong>.  After all, this program is essentially everything I preach, minus the dumbbells/kettlebells and plus some seriously challenging &#8220;special op&#8221; bodyweight exercises that I&#8217;ve honestly never even heard of before.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The system contains 3 months worth of missions (workouts) and each mission has 3 different levels, making it usable by pretty much any fitness level.  But I have to admit, even the beginner level (called &#8220;recruit level&#8221;) workouts were humbling for yours truly.</p>

<p>I haven&#8217;t done a <a  href="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/category/celebrity-workout-reviews/">celebrity workout review</a> in a while and many of my readers have been wanting to get some insight on the &#8220;<strong>Rain workout routine for <em>Ninja Assassin</em></strong>.&#8221;  After doing my research on Jeong Ji-hoon (Korean: 정지훈; born June 25, 1982), who&#8217;s much better known by his stage name Rain&#8230;I can see why.  This guy has built an amazing lean body that&#8217;s no doubt helped his career as a singer, dancer, designer, model and now actor.</p>
<p>What I&#8217;m digging about Rain&#8217;s physique is his proportions, symmetry, awesome <a  href="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/2010/01/31/bonus-workout-vtaper-exploder-routine/">v-taper</a> and impressive leanness.  He&#8217;s managed to create a ripped body that emulates athleticism and power, but without stacking on ridiculous amounts of bulky muscle mass.  Rain has the <a  href="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/2009/11/03/brad-pitt-fight-club-workout-diet-plan/">Brad Pitt <em>Fight Club</em> body</a> going on, for sure.  Here&#8217;s a pic showing his progression from when he first started training for <em>Ninja Assassin</em>, up through the filming of the movie&#8230;</p>

<p>So what&#8217;s the top secret Rain workout routine that allowed him to look so fly for his role as Raizo in <em>Ninja Assassin</em>?  Well, rather than listing some cheesy workout plan that&#8217;s probably just made up by shady website owners looking to sell you supplements that&#8217;ll &#8216;magically&#8217; give you a ripped body like Rain&#8230;I&#8217;ve got something even better.</p>
<p>I found a couple of videos that show Rain during his actual workouts in preparation for the <em>Ninja Assassin </em>flick.  Now we <em>know </em>these are legit.  Take a look at the types of exercises and techniques his trainers used during the workouts&#8230;I think you&#8217;ll notice that the &#8220;Rain workout&#8221; is built around many of the exact same <a  href="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/category/advanced-fat-loss/">advanced fat loss</a> and <a  href="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/category/build-lean-muscle/">muscle building</a> strategies I recommend to all my <em>TopFatLossTrainer</em> readers.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">Finally, some <em>truth</em> when it comes to how celebrities get incredibly lean and ripped for their movie roles.  Notice how Rain was describing his workout routine as one of the most challenging and demanding things he&#8217;d ever been put through?  He trained SIX hours a day for SIX months to accomplish the <a  href="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/2009/12/24/body-transformation-contests-rules/">total body transformation</a> shown above.  Granted, 5 of those hours were devoted to fighting technique for the movie, but think about the obscene amount of calories Rain burned through each day during these workouts.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Creating an exceptional body requires exceptional efforts and there are NO quick fixes, other than training and dieting smarter, harder and with greater focus.  Here&#8217;s another Rain workout video that shows even more of his training sessions (some of it&#8217;s in English and some is narrarated in Korean&#8230;but it&#8217;s still a killer video that shows Rain &#8220;in the trenches,&#8221; just like I promote with my garage workouts).</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">You can see that Rain managed to get cut up without fancy equipment and without having to complete every workout in a state of the art gym or training facility.  I&#8217;m not saying there&#8217;s anything wrong with training at a gym&#8230;I&#8217;m just driving home the point that a little dedication, mixed with some imagination (and very basic fitness equipment), can go a long ways.  Whether you&#8217;re working out entirely from home, only at the gym or a combination of both&#8230;the only thing that stands in the way of you building your own Rain hard-body is YOU.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><a  href="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/25/rain-workout-ninja-assassin/Rain-Ripped-Body.jpg" class="thickbox no_icon" rel="gallery-2345" title="Rain Ripped Body"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-2357" style="margin: 10px 12px;" title="Rain Ripped Body" src="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/25/rain-workout-ninja-assassin/Rain-Ripped-Body.jpg" alt="Rain Ripped Body" width="269" height="380" /></a>I was pleased to see that Rain&#8217;s workout was based around heavy, highly metabolic, total body training, which is exactly what I prescribe (well, I guess I can only &#8216;recommend&#8217; since I&#8217;m <em>just</em> a pharmacist) to get a body like Rain.  It&#8217;s funny because I just filmed the half get-ups and dumbbell push-ups into a one-armed row the other day in my <a  href="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/2010/02/22/get-ripped-abs-advanced-ab-exercises/">Advanced Ab Exercises</a> video.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Rain&#8217;s workout had him performing full get-ups and combining three of my favorite moves (the burpee, the dumbbell push-up into one-armed row combo and the push press) into one giant, lean body certified movement.  Very cool and very effective.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">I hope you were as inspired as I was by watching these Rain workout clips and even more importantly, I hope this post helped to clear any misconceptions you might of had regarding how celebrities <em>really</em> train to <a  href="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/category/get-ripped-fast/">get ripped fast</a> (or should I say slow).</p>

<p style="text-align: left;"><em>&lt;&#8212; Yes, I had a HOT iPhone pic leftover from last week&#8217;s <a  href="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/2010/02/17/tempo-running-rocks-heres-why/">Tempo Running</a> post that I couldn&#8217;t let go to waste&#8230;still loving the new iPhone&#8230;kinda wonder how I ever lived without one.  Anyways, back to getting ripped abs&#8230;</em></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">I do, however, identify three cases where direct ab work may be beneficial in this Inner Circle post:  <a  href="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/2009/12/26/ab-routines-absolute-waste-of-workout-time/">Ab Training</a> (sorry, but the videos are hidden for <a  href="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/inner-circle/">Inner Circle members</a> only).</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">If you don&#8217;t fall into one of those three categories and you&#8217;re still worried about not getting enough ab work during your <a  href="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/category/workouts/">fat loss workouts</a>, no worries&#8230;I just filmed a video that includes <strong>seven advanced ab exercises</strong> that are <em>TopFatLossTrainer</em> approved.  Yep, I give you permission to include them in your workout routine because not only will they beat up your midsection, but each exercise also recruits multiple other muscle groups <em>and</em> promotes metabolism.</p>

<p style="text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;">b) Brad Campbell is not as &#8220;hard&#8221; as he claims (thanks a lot Beyonce)</p>
<p style="text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;">c) Brad Campbell cannot count (my excuse is that I was dizzy from the tornadoes)</p>
<p style="text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;"><em>*Not sure why I decided to write in the 3rd person, but I&#8217;m going to roll with it&#8230;grab a protein shake and enjoy.</em></p>
<p style="text-align: center; padding-left: 30px;"><em><strong>Get Ripped Abs With These 7 Advanced Ab Exercises:</strong></em></p>

<p style="text-align: left;">Here&#8217;s a quick recap of the 7 advanced ab exercises I took you through in the video&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;">1) <strong>Dumbbell front squats</strong> &#8211; keep weight on the heels; chin up, chest out and abs contracted extremely hard</p>
<p style="text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;">2) <strong>One arm overhead side lunges</strong> &#8211; try to keep dumbbell/kettlebell straight above your shoulder; lunge as deep as possible; maintain <a  href="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/2009/12/24/posture-exercises-how-to-improve-your-posture/">good posture</a>; complete all reps for one side, then switch</p>
<p style="text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;">3) <strong>Vertical tornadoes</strong> &#8211; with slight bend in elbows, hold dumbbell overhead and swing violently (like a tornado, duh) in circular motion; aim for at least 30 seconds, then switch directions for equal duration of time</p>
<p style="text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;">4) <strong>Horizontal tornadoes</strong> &#8211; same principles as with upright tornadoes, but use a stability ball and try not to fall on your ass or hit yourself in the head</p>
<p style="text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;">5) <strong>Half get-ups</strong> &#8211; lie down on a mat and hold one dumbbell directly above shoulder; bring same side heel in close, with opposite leg extended straight out; contract abs and lean to side opposite extended dumbbell to sit upright; lower slowly to starting position; imagine having a glass of water in place of the dumbbell and trying not to spill it throughout the movement</p>
<p style="text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;">6) <strong>Dumbbell floor wipers</strong> &#8211; laying flat on a mat, hold a medium pair of dumbbells in extended chest press position and contract lower abs to bring toes to touch right dumbbell, lower slowly and repeat to left dumbbell; keep your heels together and resist the tendency to bend at the knees as you raise and lower your legs</p>
<p style="text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;">7) <strong>Dumbbell push-up into one arm row &#8211; </strong>perform a normal push-up, but with hands holding a medium pair of dumbbells; at the top of the push-up, balance your body in tripod fashion by distributing your weight between your left hand and both feet, as you perform a one arm row with the right dumbbell; strongly contract abs for balance and resist the urge to rotate your back as you complete the row; lower as slowly as possible, repeat another push-up and then alternate rows with each rep</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">For all you ab training lovers, <strong>I think you&#8217;ll find these seven advanced ab exercises to be very effective at delivering results</strong>.  Plus, they&#8217;re all time efficient, allowing you to work multiple muscle groups and burn more calories than with standard ab exercises like crunches and sit-ups.</p>

<p>Okay, get your head out of the gutter&#8230;I was referring to the 7-minute garage workout I just busted out like it was hot.  I wanted to go for a nice tempo run outside, but time was definitely not on my side, so I had to opt for a quickie instead.</p>

<p>Before I take you through today&#8217;s workout, let me give you the &#8220;haps on them craps&#8221; (sorry, was playing a little old school Ice Cube in the background&#8230;&#8221;shake &#8216;em up, shake &#8216;em up, shake &#8216;em up, shake &#8216;em&#8221;).  Speaking of great music, THANKS again to everyone who listed their favorite <a  href="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/2010/01/26/good-workout-songs-i-need-your-help/">workout songs</a> the other day.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>*If you haven&#8217;t already, check out that post for some killer ideas and be sure to leave any other songs that are motivating to workout to.  You guys rocked it and I&#8217;ve been jammin&#8217; out and destroying workouts ever since then, so gracias.</em></p>
<p>Wow, either too much caffeine today or the ADHD is really kicking in, because I can&#8217;t seem to finish one thought.  Alright, back to my update:  <strong><em>TopFatLossTrainer&#8217;s </em>Inner Circle</strong> is literally 100% complete and ready to change lives forever.  Believe me, as anxious as you&#8217;ve been to get started, I&#8217;ve been even more excited to get things finalized.  I&#8217;m a big time perfectionist, so it took a lot longer than anticipated&#8230;but you&#8217;ll find it well worth the wait.</p>

<p>As soon as I get the green light from my payment processor, I&#8217;ll let everyone know and you can get signed up.  Although I was initially thinking of charging $99/month, I decided to lower it and make it more affordable to everyone.  We&#8217;re rolling with <strong>$39.95/month</strong> and when you consider how comprehensive, user-friendly, accessible and let&#8217;s not forget, EFFECTIVE the Inner Circle is&#8230;that&#8217;s a steal (of course, I&#8217;m biased).</p>
<p>I&#8217;ll keep my fingers crossed, but you should be able to get in tomorrow (watch for my email).  Also, the price will be increased by 25% when I&#8217;m halfway full and I only have room for 2,000 people (sounds like a ton, but I&#8217;ve already got a pretty big waiting list).</p>
<p>Anyways, I&#8217;m so PROUD of this &#8211; I&#8217;ve been working on the <strong>Inner Circle</strong> daily for about 7 months now and I think you&#8217;ll be surprised by the quality and level of detail this &#8220;lean body solution&#8221; contains.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s amazing how much &#8216;damage&#8217; you can do in under 10-minutes if you&#8217;re both creative and focused.  I just got out of the shower and I&#8217;m still feeling a little dizzy &#8211; all from a ridiculously short 7-minute fat loss workout.  Pretty crazy.  Peep this&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong><em>7-Minute Quickie Fat Loss Workout:</em></strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">&#8212;> Warm-up with 1 minute of jumping jacks, exaggerated fashion</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">1A. 12 explosive burpees with &#8216;clap&#8217; push-up and tuck jump at top of movement</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">1B. Using heavy dumbbells (I used 50 lbs, for reference), complete 9 full range squats (butt almost to floor)</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">1C. Using same dumbbells, immediately complete 9 push-presses (dip the hips and drive off heals to complete shoulder press, then lower slowly with <em>all</em> shoulders)</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">1D. Lateral jumps holding medicine ball overhead x 30 jumps (jump side-to-side holding medicine ball straight overhead&#8230;if possible, use a towel or safe object to jump over each time)</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">&#8211;Rest 30 seconds&#8211;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">&#8211;Repeat entire <a  href="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/2010/01/01/fat-loss-workout-lean-body-sculpting/">fat loss</a> circuit one more time&#8211;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">This entire <a  href="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/2009/12/26/hybrid-workout-lose-fat-get-shredded-fast/">hybrid workout</a> took me almost exactly 7-minutes, but man did I feel the burn.  My quads and shoulders were flippin&#8217; en fuego and the lungs were burning pretty bad, as I was sucking for air like a guy who&#8217;s never worked out before.  Humbling, to say the least.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Give that bad boy a try sometime and let me know what you think.  Make sure you&#8217;re going heavy with your dumbbells, using full ranges of motion and exploding with <a  href="http://www.topfatlosstrainer.com/2009/07/13/bestbodyweightexercise/">burpees</a> and lateral jumps.  If the explosive push-up and tuck jump (with burpees) and vertical medicine ball hold (with lateral jumps) is too difficult, just go without and try to progress each week until you&#8217;re able to crush it.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">This is another <strong><em>TopFatLossTrainer </em>Inner Circle bonus workout</strong> that&#8217;s designed to give the <span style="text-decoration: underline;">guys</span> a rock hard bicep peak, backed by a thick, horseshoe-shaped tricep, for serious street cred (or at least people won&#8217;t laugh at you when you&#8217;re rockin&#8217; a sleeveless tee-shirt, lol).  Just because we&#8217;re going for the lean and ripped look doesn&#8217;t mean it&#8217;s okay to have &#8220;string bean arms.&#8221;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">A modified version will help the <span style="text-decoration: underline;">girls</span> to tighten, tone and prevent those hideous &#8220;batwings&#8221; that your grandma probably has.  If only grandma would&#8217;ve known about weight training back in the day (sigh)&#8230;well, guess what&#8230;you do and there&#8217;s no excuse to have flabby arms in this day and age.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">Guys, here&#8217;s the <strong>Inner Circle bonus workout</strong> I was telling you about.  In my opinion, the one thing that makes a guy&#8217;s body really stand out from the rest of the pack is a carefully sculpted v-taper.  You can work your butt off in the gym, follow a clean diet and have impressive muscle definition&#8230;but if your body frame looks like a box (or worse yet, an apple), at the end of the day, no one is going to notice you and the girls won&#8217;t dig you.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">It&#8217;s all about proportions and the v-taper is what makes or breaks your overall body image.  Women are genetically programmed to be attracted to broad shoulders, a ripped chest and defined back&#8230;all of which tapers down to a small and chiseled waistline.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>This look screams power, athleticism and sex appeal</strong>.  Notice how this differs from juiced up meatheads who have all of those characteristics, but their waistlines are pushed out with abs the size of my thighs.  This makes them look goofy in street clothes and a lil outta place when they&#8217;re not in the gym.  You feel me?</p>
